Elderberry Wine

Updated: May 13, 2021

This summer we will be releasing our locally harvested Elderberry Wine.

"A medicinal berry traditionally used; this wine is brightly bold and crisp with a touch of ripe, wild berry sweetness."

Elderberries have been used throughout history for their medicinal properties. High in antioxidants, this berry has been used to treat cold and flu symptoms as well as inflammation. Through the process of fermentation these medicinal qualities are naturally preserved not only as a healing tonic but to be enjoyed as a fine wine.

I created this wine using hand harvested elderberries that grow along the Flathead Lake. It was in the fall when these berries were a deep, dark purple and ready for harvest. While I picked these berries and crushed them to make into wine, I thought about how significant and sacred this berry has been to the native people of this area throughout many generations. I wanted to create this wine in honor of the Salish and Kootenai Tribes of the Flathead Nation.
